The search for survivors continues.

Rescuers comb an area off the coast of Chile following a deadly plane crash on Thursday.

At least five people are confirmed dead after a Piper Navajo craft went down near the city of Quellon in the southern part of the country.

Local reports say witnesses saw the plane plunge into a river.

Eight people were onboard.

Officials are still holding out hope of finding survivors - but family members have criticized rescue efforts.

"I can't calm down. Not knowing kills you. No one is telling us anything. I want to know what is going on with the search so I can relax a bit."

The plane disappeared just after noon on Thursday.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
